The context
As a major high street presence, HSBC needs to be certain that its daily operations can run smoothly and efficiently. The Bank must also achieve best value, so cost and quality service are essential.Principle Link is tasked by Interserve, the bank's facilities maintenance provider, to deliver prompt reactive maintenance services throughout HSBC's 1400 UK sites.
The project
Principle Link handles HSBC's reactive maintenance calls associated with counters, secure service areas, lighting and fabric.Branches request many different services, from the replacement of drawer locks, letter boxes, glazed panels and leaflet holders to the repair of lighting units, flooring or paintwork. Principle responds to each call promptly and professionally, providing the appropriately skilled personnel to deal with the tasks required. HSBC values the fact that Principle's on-site staff are polite and smartly dressed as they may come into contact with customers. Rapid response is critical to the bank's operations: broken cash drawer locks, for instance, are potentially disruptive as cash or vital documents may be rendered inaccessible. Principle ensures that an engineer arrives onsite and resolves the problem promptly and with minimum disruption.
For larger jobs, Principle's site surveys inform its careful procurement process, ensuring that the best products can be sourced at the right prices. For example, some light fittings currently installed in branches are no longer manufactured. Principle has sourced a near-identical product at a competitive price so that new fittings blend well with the old. This has saved HSBC the much higher cost of replacing entire lighting estates.
